How To Prepare For A Garden Party

Summer is the perfect opportunity to host a garden party. Whether it is a birthday party, a bank holiday celebration, or you just love a BBQ in the sun, there are so many reasons to get outside with your nearest and dearest this summer.

Like any party, there are a number of things you need to do beforehand in order to prepare. The following guide will talk you through how you can get ready to host a garden party that will go without a hitch.

Clear out

Before you can have a garden party, you must first clear out your space. Depending on the size of your garden this may take some time so you might wish to do this the weekend before the party.

Make sure to clear away any fallen debris, jet wash your patio, and move any potential trip hazards.

Décor

Now that your garden is clear, you can begin decorating it ahead of the party. Furniture is key here as you do not want people to have to stand up throughout the duration of the party. If you do not have enough furniture for everyone, consider investing in some floor cushions, perfect for storing away when they are not needed. You could also ask to borrow furniture from those attending too. As well as outdoor furniture, you cannot forget lighting. Putting up some outdoor lighting will allow the party to go on well after sunset, should you want it to.

Catering

If you are planning on feeding your guests, it will go a lot smoother if you plan how you are going to do so well in advance. While a BBQ is the obvious choice, it is also good to serve a range of cold dishes such as salads that you can prepare ahead of time.

In order to alleviate some pressure from yourself, you could request that guests all bring a different dish. That way everyone is sure to have a least one thing they like to eat. Do not forget to enquire about any allergies too.

Neighbours

If you plan on inviting a lot of people or are hosting the party in the evening, it is courteous to inform your neighbours of the date and expected finish time. Doing this means they are far less likely to complain, and your mind will be at more at ease, allowing you to have a better time.

Plan B

No matter what type of heatwave we may be experiencing, the weather in the UK is notoriously unpredictable. This unfortunately means there is a possibility that the day of your garden party will not feature blue skies and sun. Depending on your garden set-up, this might not cause an issue, but it is always good to have a plan B just in case. It may be that you are happy to move the party indoors, or you might prefer to reschedule entirely.
