Pop-up cinema experts bring Drive Thru Cinema to Manchester this summer!

This summer, The Village Screen pop-up cinema is bringing a brand-new cinematic experience to the quirky surrounds of Middlewood Locks in Salford - The Village Screen Drive Thru cinema! The Village Screen team have been delivering sell out, intimate and quirky cinematic events for the people of the North and across the UK for the past five years.

They have screened films in caves, historical swimming pools, hotels, monasteries, woodland areas and more. They promise that their Drive Thru Cinema will be just as original, with DJ entertainment delivered to your car, as well as street food and drink deliveries available. All whilst following social distancing rules.

Between 29th July – 2nd August, they will be screening 5 films in the car park at Middlewood Locks on their giant 24ft inflatable screen and cinema-goers will be able to choose from films such as Back to the Future, Thelma and Louise and Knives Out. Audiences will be able to watch the films each evening from the comfort of their own cars, with each car being given its own speaker system.

Middlewood Locks neighbourhood is an exciting new waterside development located right next to Salford Central Railway Station. The Village Screen worked with Middlewood Locks to organise a complimentary open-air cinema screening for their residents and the wider community in 2019, to celebrate the completion of the first phase of their development project. The space is cool and ideally located, with breath taking views of the city and just a stone’s throw away from Spinningfields.

The Village Screen promises to keep their Drive Thru events independent, intimate, fun and safe. They are working with local food trader Shoot The Bull to deliver a delicious cinema menu which will cater for all dietary requirements! Audiences will be able to pre-order street food up to 48 hours before each event commences via an exciting new online delivery service that The Village Screen have partnered with. Attendees will also be able to order drinks, popcorn and snack deliveries each night via the online delivery service and enjoy DJ entertainment in their cars before each screening commences.

These events will adhere to social distancing rules and are perfect for current times! On site toilets will be regularly cleaned and hand washing facilities will be available. Everything will be conducted in a socially distanced manner, with plenty of space between cars. The Village Screen promises to make the grounds look extra beautiful with lots of magical lighting. Tickets go on sale on Tuesday 7th July at 9am via www.thevillagescreen.com/whats-on
