Albert Square Set For A Vintage Week

St Ann’s Square will become a city centre hotspot for cool kids and trend-setters when it hosts its first ever Vintage and Fashion Week.

Running from Monday 15 till Sunday 21 September the Vintage and Fashion Week forms part of the Summer Festival of Markets currently taking place in St Ann’s Square.

Adding to the exciting selection of live entertainment, cafés and bars Vintage Fashion Week will bring a series of unmissable special events to St Ann’s Square.

On Monday 15 September the market will host a number of upcycling workshops. Upcycling is a way to take unwanted items and with a little work give them a new lease of live. The workshops will offer instruction on how to rejuvenate both clothes and household items.

Tuesday 16 Wednesday - 17 September will be the perfect chance for fashionistas to update their wardrobes when the market holds a Vintage Kilo Sale. The Kilo Sale is a revolutionary way to shop, where savvy bargain hunters pay for items by weight. Tuesday is dedicated to men’s style and Wednesday will be all about women’s fashion.

Thursday 18 September will focus on the home, with events showcasing retro furniture, classic designs and styles from decades past.

On Friday 19 September Albert Square will rival the catwalks of London, Paris and New York when it hosts Fashion Designers Forwards. The day will be a chance to pick up haute couture outfits from some of the regions most talented independent designers. The day will be topped off with a fashion show taking place from 7.30-9pm.

The week will conclude with the spectacular Vintage Fashion Boutique, boasting the north west’s best vintage traders.

Councillor Rosa Battle, Manchester City Council executive member for culture and leisure said, “The Vintage and Fashion Market will show off the unbelievable abundance of skill and talent we have here in Manchester.

“With so much going on St Ann's Square will have a different feel each day, so it will definitely be worth popping along more than once to see what’s going on.

“With a stylish laid back atmosphere Albert Square will be the perfect place to take the weight off your feet, discover a bargain or simply relax with friends.”

Markets across the festival period will be open from 10am-5.30pm. Bars, with live entertainment, will be open until 9pm.
