Albert Square To Host Official Rugby World Cup 2015 Fanzone

Albert Square has been named as Manchester’s Rugby World Cup 2015 Official Fanzone.

Saturday 10th October 2015 will see England take on Uruguay in the Rugby World Cup 2015 match at Manchester City Stadium.

Anticipation for the Rugby World Cup 2015 is massively high and those who aren't lucky enough to have tickets will find the special Fanzone in Manchester city centre providing an ideal location to enjoy the match.

As well as showing this game the Fanzone will also show numerous games from the tournament on the weekend of 9 to 11 October.

The Fanzone will be free for all and will feature a big screen showing live rugby matches, live entertainment, rugby orientated activities and food & drink.

Manchester City Council's Executive Member for Culture and Leisure, Cllr Rosa Battle said: “Excitement is already building for this year’s Rugby World Cup and the Fanzone is going to be the perfect place to take in the games and enjoy the festive atmosphere with like-minded sports fans.

“Boasting a selection of events across the weekend the Fanzone is going to be a must-visit destination for everyone, whether they’re going to the big game or just want to watch the match in style.”

tHE CEO of England Rugby 2015, Debbie Jevans said: “With less than six months to go we are delighted to announce the locations of the Official Fanzones, alongside details of the 100 day Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour across the UK and Ireland. The countdown to Rugby World Cup 2015 is on and fans can now really begin to plan their tournament experience, be it through watching the matches, through Fanzones, the Festival of Rugby and the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour.”
 
During the tournament there will be 15 Fanzones located across the country, including Manchester.

Sports fans can also look forward to the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour when Rugby’s greatest prize, the Webb Ellis Cup, will travel through the home nations counting down to the start of the tournament. 

The trophy is set visit Manchester from on the 25th of July, and will stay until the 27th, details of the trophy tour events will be revealed soon.
