Review: MIMOD's Kitchen

MIMOD's Kitchen invited us to their recent pop-up Supper Club event at the fantastic setting of RedbankCo in Green Quarter. Read on to see what we thought!

What a special evening of great service, a buzzing atmosphere and stunning food! MIMOD's proved to us why their food is definitely the Most Important Meal Of the Day.

Arriving at the venue, we were treated to a delicious welcome drink in the wonderfully unique building, quirky décor and stunning photos made for an amazing setting.

The food began to roll out, up first was a sweetcorn fritter served with a Mexican mixed bean salad and fresh salsa. It was a light starter and the perfect way to begin the evening. Each element belonged on the plate, it was refreshing, full of flavour and incredibly moreish, we had to stop ourselves from having thirds and fourths knowing there was plenty more food to come.

We were then treated to a kale and apple soup, served with a homemade pretzel. After the Beast From The East had struck, bringing freezing temperatures with it, there could not have been a better dish to make you feel right at home. Hearty and warming, the soup had a sweet tinge from the apple that just emphasised the delightful flavours. We also don't have enough superlatives for the freshly made pretzel!

By this point in the evening the atmosphere had really taken off, people who had arrived separately began to immerse themselves in the MIMOD's experience together. The food just kept on coming! Next up, a mustard seed potato rosti, topped with flaked crab and watercress cream. The varying textures made this dish a dream to eat, a crisp crunch of the rosti and smooth flaked crab worked in harmony to have us in food heaven.

The centre piece of the night was a beef baguette, accompanied with a beetroot mayo and a rich jus for dipping. The beef could not have been cooked any better. You know it's good when you feel like the food just melts away in your mouth.

Chef Stephanie Sowden then capped off the night with a silky smooth, delectable blueberry and ricotta frozen yoghurt. The light dessert was one that we would have continued eating all night long (if we weren't already on the verge of bursting).

Feeling replete and every last crumb devoured, we had the chance to catch up with Steph. Her passion for food and what she does is evident for all to see. With a personality that is reflected in the high standard of vibrant food she serves, we encourage everyone to go say hi and sample some of Steph's delicious meals! We want to thank Steph and her team for putting on a truly memorable evening.

For those of you who didn't get to experience MIMOD's Kitchen, then do not worry. They now have a permanent spot at RedbankCo every Saturday and Sunday from 9:00am till 3:00pm, serving a delicious array of food. You'll most definitely catch us in there with you!
