6 Best Pancake Toppings

With it being Pancake Day, how could we not do a piece on the 6 best pancake toppings (well in our eyes)!

It's the day where the ceiling and floor are in danger from rogue pancake tosses and when everyone finds out just how good they are at cracking an egg without getting half of the shell joining their mixing bowl.
 

1. We had to start with a classic, simply because it's what some of us had this morning.  Just the finest maple syrup drizzled over a stack of pancakes, easy but brilliant.
   
   
    
2. Nutella and banana.  Need we say more?  Two things that go so well together!  Whether you're spreading the Nutella or melting it slightly and drizzling it over the top, both are a chocoholics dream.
   
   
    
3. Another classic that no pancake toppings list would be complete without, sugar and lemon.  There is something so perfect about the combination!  It works with thin crepe style pancakes or the thick American style.
   
   
    
4. Looking for a savoury substitute?  Bacon and scrambled or fried eggs makes breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner an option.  Swap your toast for a tasty pancake to celebrate.
   
   
    
5. If you fancy something a bit fruitier, have a beautiful belting berry bonanza of a pancake.  Pick up a collection of your favourite berries from raspberries to blueberries or if you want something cheaper, head to the frozen section and get a forest fruits mix.  Warming them slightly in the microwave can give you a nice juice on top, if it's not enough, add some coulis of your choice.
   
   
    
6. Honey, crème fraiche and strawberry.  A little bit different to your traditional toppings but a delicious treat nonetheless.  Add as much of each ingredient as you please!
