12 Of The Best Restaurants Outside Manchester City Centre

There’s no denying that there are so many amazing choices for food and drink across Manchester but rather than stay central, we have put together a list including 12 of our favourites outside Manchester city centre. We know there are so many more than these 12 and we will be back out hitting some more Greater Manchester beauties soon.

You don't have to be in the city centre for all of your food and drink needs, hop on a tram, train or short car journey and you can find some exceptional food and here are 12 of our favourites at the moment. 

1. Hispi - Didsbury 

Part of the Elite Bistro group, Hispi has been impressing for some time now with an innovative menu and an array of standout elements on every plate. There’s a set menu available which is superb value for money as well as a full menu that will have you wanting to come back and try every single dish. 2. Hyssop at The Bulls Head - Glossop 

The Glossop pub is one of those you just need to go out and try. Chef Paul Sykes is producing food of the highest quality at Hyssop, making it not just worth the trip but it will have you making sure you return on a regular basis. 3. Chaat Cart - Marple 

Indian street food at its finest. Chaat Cart’s small plates menu is packed with big flavours, freshly cooked from scratch each day, it is the perfect food to share. With an extensive array of gins, you won’t be short of a tipple to wash down those beautiful South Indian flavours. You can view their menu and how to book here.  

4. Bar San Juan - Chorlton 

Tapas done the proper Spanish way. The relaxed atmosphere, typical décor, great food and delicious drinks make the perfect combination. The menu has elements from all regions of Spain as well as a few Bar San Juan twists, you’ll be ordering dish after dish. They are a walk-in only restaurant so get there early so you don’t miss out. 5. The Creameries - Chorlton 

Since opening almost a year ago, The Creameries has earned glowing reviews from all over the food industry. Chef Mary-Ellen McTague and Baker Sophie Yeoman have brought pure joy to Manchester with their stunning food. 6. Where the Light Gets In - Stockport 

The intimate and personal dining offering at Where the Light Gets In has been making waves across the country, not just Manchester. Sam Buckley has created something unique; the evening lasts around three hours as you are served a tasting menu made up from what has been butchered, foraged and collected from the farm that day. 7. Sugo Pasta Kitchen - Altrincham 

You can now find Sugo in Ancoats as well as Altrincham with the same stunning food available. The menu focuses on traditional Italian pasta dishes and they smash them out the park. The passion for what they are producing comes through in abundance with each mouthful of hearty and soulful Italian food. You can check out more here. 

8. Tre Ciccio - Bramhall 

Now located in Altrincham, Ramsbottom and Bramhall you are spoilt for Tre Ciccio choice (try saying that three times fast). Their Italian roots have led them to produce a mouthwatering menu and just to tempt you in a bit more, their chef won Pizza Chef of the Year in 2018 at the National Pizza Awards, so you know it’s even better than good. 9. Porta - Altrincham 

Having recently opened a second site in Salford, Porta have continued their rise since first opening in Chester back in 2012. Inspired by the independent tapas bars in Barcelona and Madrid you can expect the tapas classics done to Porta perfection in the informal and relaxed environment. 10. The Lime Tree – Didsbury 

The long-standing family run business focuses on seasonal produce when creating their beautiful menu. Having purchased Hardingland Farm at Macclesfield Forest The Lime Tree offer some of the finest produce from farm to plate, consistently serving quality food. More about The Lime Tree here. 

11. The Fisherman's Table - Marple

This new opening in Marple has hit the ground running with exceptionally high quality seafood dishes. The fish is the highlight of each course, all coming in fresh from Fleetwood, served with ingredients and flavours that compliment perfectly. If seafood is your thing then you need to head to Marple. 12. Evuna - Knutsford

Yes you can find Evuna in the city centre but we ventured out to Knutsford to their Grade II listed venue and it was so worth the trip. The building is beautiful and the food matches, we found ourselves trying most of the menu and the wine just as good. For more about Evuna in Knutsford click here.
